The 1968 Road Runner cost between $2800 and $3100 Roadrunner engine options 383 V8 (1968-70), 426 V8 (1968-70) and a mean 440 V8 (1969-70) Plymouth added the option for a convertible in 1969 producing only 2,128 in 1970 there were only 824 1970 was the introduction of the Superbird. 1,920 were produced Roadrunner continued as a Plymouth model till 1970, finally ending up as a package option for the 1967 Volare compact. The Superbird came stock with a 440 and TorqueFlite automatic transmission. NASCAR had to change the rules twice to curb the dominance of the Superbird
