Road Trip  Ft. Monroe, VA    

 

We planned a short detour on out trip to Avon, North Carolina. The stop was at the final day of the Summer Mopar Madness at Ft. Monroe, VA. The threat of rain in the air kept a few people home but there were quite a few nice rides. Some of them came from further away than I did! The car I photographed first was Bill Laurent’s 1970 Dodge Charger Daytona. I had to do this one first; my oldest son just loved it. I was later told that Bill is the president of the hosting club, the Tidewater Mopar Club. Next I moved over a few cars to Carl Ardabell’s 1964 Plymouth Belvedere. Carl drove in from central PA. Then to round out the Mopars at the Mopar show I took some shots of George Bellany’s 1968 Dodge Super Bee. George drove, with the top down most of the way, from Missouri. Last I took some photos of Mike Irving’s 1971 Olds 442 just after he came off of the road course.

Road Trip  Okracoke Island, NC

    We took the Ferry from Hatteras Island over to Okracoke Island and found some interesting rides. Right out on the main drag we found what was once a 1968 Volkswagen Karmann-Giha but has evolved into a one-of-a-kind. Next out in front of one of the shops on “The Back Road” was a 1960 Morris Minor 1000 Traveler. And then back to Hatteras Island for some pictures of Paula’s 1966 Dodge 100 Pickup. This trip I was told “No Shows On The Return Trip!” and for once I listened.
